Recently I reviewed the upcoming EP "The Elevation Of Idoicy" from Newcastle bound "The Creep Void".
It's by far one of the best EP's that I have heard in a long time and I strongly suggest that you check these guys out. The review has been the most viewed on here to date and naturally I wanted to know more about them.
First off many congratulations with the new EP. It was very well received here at MM. Could you tell us more about it?
Cheers mate, thanks again for the review. TEOI is our follow up from our debut album Apotheosis, it's by far our best work up to now, we're all really proud of it. Its taken alot of time to get it recorded and we really cant wait til its released. It's unofficially a concept EP in the fact that all the songs are connected in one way or another through people that live in Idiocy weather that is chasing fame, or being head over heels in love, its all a type of idiocy we put ourselves through to understand each other. The title is both a celebration and condemnation of idiocy
The cover art is one of the best I've seen in ages could you tell it what it means or symbolises?
Yeah its amazing art, a guy called dominik kucera, done the pictures so i dont really know what they mean to him, but for me it represents an almost fake ascension, you have the elevation but the woman has no soul, and i just thought it would tie well into the idiocy concept that runs through the EP. Luke Scott took the original pictures and turned it into the design we have today
So what is the band and you're sound all about?
We are all about playing honest rock and roll, high energy, plenty of riffs, melody, a bit of everything. Our ethics come from being really good mates first and foremost, and i reckon that translates perfectly on stage or recording. I like to think we have an edge to our band, we try to make the next song sound nothing like the last one if possible, but the main thing is to just have fun with it, if your not having fun then there is no point being in a band
What bands have been your influence?
We all have individual influences like but mainly for us Queens Of The Stoneage, Nirvana, Silverchair, Nine Black Alps, those kinda bands.
The launch party for the EP is looking pretty damn awesome, what have you guy's got planned for it?
Aye we cant wait, got 3 amazing support bands who are all good mates of ours Masamune, The Raging Sickness & Edenthorn. We've got a few nice little things going on, but probably best to just see it as it happens
Coming from Newcastle and running MM I've got a good incline on how the local 'underground' scene is. What do you make of it?
Talent wise we have so many amazing bands, especially in alternative rock music, but i just think there is no real scene to be part of, you dont need to leave the house to check bands out and ultimately to have a scene you need fans, and not enough people are turning out for unsigned gigs, wether thats down to shit promotion, bands not promoting, or just lack of interest from people, hopefully it changes sooner rather than later, because the quality of bands we have up here, the northeast could be a real hot bed for alternative bands being successful.
So with the EP release what are your plans for the rest of this year and next?
Once the EP is released and promoted, we're gona head back into recording with Richie at TruStudios to start work on our 2nd album. Hopefully sort a UK tour for 2015, make some videos, and just try and keep the momentum going. We're excited, just see how things pan out.
